What RD 8/2019 requires for working-time records

Royal Decree-law 8/2019 requires a daily record of start and end of the working day, kept for 4 years and available to staff, representatives and the Labour Inspectorate.

Royal Decree-law 8/2019 of 8 March put a concrete duty in article 34.9 of the Workers' Statute: the employer must keep a daily working-time record, with start and end time for every person, full- or part-time.

That is not a software module. It is labour law. A product can leave objective evidence; the employer remains responsible.

What you must be able to show

Records are kept for four years and must be available to:

  • staff,
  • their legal representatives,
  • the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate.

The same facts are on the Nexo page. We do not add deadlines or fines here that are not already published on the site.

What is not enough

A shared spreadsheet is edited and lost. The record has to be reliable and not easily tampered with. If you are on a spreadsheet today, Nexo migration is assisted: export, clean and import.
